HISTORY OF GEORGIA DAZE
In the Fall 2004, three African American students founded Georgia Daze at the University of Georgia. Georgia Daze served a two-day, overnight campus visitation program, hosted in February and April, for high school seniors that have been admitted to UGA. This program aims to encourage talented, historically underrepresented students to enroll at the University of Georgia. During this weekend prospective students are exposed to classes, faculty, campus leaders, University Housing, dining halls and student organizations, while parents attend a half-day orientation provided by the Office of Institutional Diversity on the Friday of that weekend.
GEORGIA DAZE TODAY
Today, Georgia Daze has expanded its reach from just prospective students. While our weekends have been shortened to just one night in February and April, we ensure to reach historically underrepresented minorities that currently attend the University of Georgia. We now provide programs, networking opportunities, and special events for current students who identify in historically underrepresented groups. We connect these students with current faculty, staff graduate students and alumni, while also focusing on community service in the Athens- Clarke County area.

"Very lucky to have experienced #GADaze this weekend. My host was amazing and I'm so much more excited for the fall"
"For the duration of my stay at UGA, I felt safe and at home. After visiting plenty of other schools, I found UGA to be a perfect fit for me. I feel alive, at home, and that I truly have a place and a purpose there. All other schools have paled in comparison, not only academically, but in the way that the people are on campus. In addition to all of the adults and staff that I met that were welcoming and supportive, all of the current students were the same way. It felt like people there were authentic and truly cared about us (Daze participants) and our futures. I received so much amazing advice and insight from the students and staff that I would never find at another institution. So, thank you for allowing me to participate in such an amazing opportunity and experience with Georgia Daze. It made it perfectly clear that it was the right school for me."
